Prees sits at the geographical heart of our operating area — between Whitchurch to the north and Wem to the southwest, with the A41 and A49 passing on either side of the village. We visit clients across the whole Prees civil parish, which includes Prees Village, Prees Higher Heath, Prees Green, Fauls, Sandford, Darliston, and the smaller hamlets scattered through the parish's 13,000 acres of predominantly agricultural land.

For many of our Prees clients, the distances involved in rural life are a daily reality — from the village to the nearest surgery, from a farmhouse lane to the market in Whitchurch or Wem. Our carers are local, which means they know these roads and they arrive on time.

About Prees

The name Prees is Celtic in origin and means "brushwood" — a clue to the landscape as it once was, before centuries of farming cleared the land into the broad, open fields that now characterise the parish. The village of Prees itself clusters around St Chad's Church, whose nave dates from the 14th century, with a later tower that has watched over the village for three hundred years.

when a person was assessed for a new piece of equipment, a health professional trained the staff
how to use it effectively. This reduced the risk of harm to people and gave people confidence. A health
professional told us that staff and managers took advice on board and staff were proactive in seeking advice
and support. This ensured people remained safe and in good health.

Prees Higher Heath

Prees Higher Heath — commonly known simply as Higher Heath — is the larger settlement within the Prees parish, with a population of over 1,100. Located on the A41 south of Whitchurch, it has its own distinct community identity and is the part of the parish we visit most frequently. Several of our current clients live in Higher Heath, and we have built strong local knowledge of the area over many years.

The village has two railway stations within close distance — Prees station and Whitchurch station — and sits between the A41 and A49 corridors, giving it better road access than many of the more rural communities we serve.
